It can be a cheater, a simple 4-patch, etc. Keep it simple. Put quilt together the “no-binding” way. After turning quilt right side out, topstitch around entire quilt close to edge. At the meeting we will tie them. Floss will be provided. Please bring a needle to tie with, scissors, and whatever else you may need. Quilts will be going to charities. Bring in your favorite baby doll. Decorate your group table in a baby theme. (Remember the teddy bear picnic?) Bring in a photo of yourself when you were a baby; show us how adorable you were. We would like everyone to bring in one new baby item, such as a bib, lotion, powder, socks, rattle, small toy, pacifier, etc. We will be making a baby theme basket for the penny sale at our quilt show; whatever is left we will donate to charity. THERE WILL BE PRIZES!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let’s have a fun night and do something for charity. Thanks in advance from the Program Committee. 2008 QUILT SHOW - A FESTIVAL OF QUILTS We are beginning the final preparations for our 2008 Quilt Show. Forms for quilt entries were available at the April meeting but less than half the membership has picked up forms so far. The forms will also be available at the May meeting and they will be due by the June meeting. We can't have a Quilt Show without quilts! Members who cannot pick up entry forms should send a SASE to Pat Burwell, who will send out the forms. Members hanging quilts in the Show may offer their quilts for sale. The Guild will collect a 20% share of the sales price: this is the same commission as in the Boutique. Members desiring to sell a quilt should place a For Sale sign, with price, on the quilt being offered. The Show Committee is still collecting 5 1/2" squares of fabric for assembling "Treasure Quilt" kits to be sold at the Show Boutique. If you are cleaning up from a project, cut up your scraps and hand them in to Terri Cronin. UPCOMING QUILT EVENTS LOWELL QUILT FESTIVAL The deadline for entries to Images 2008 exhibit, Tsongas Arena, Lowell, Aug 7 - 10 is May 1st. You don't need slides anymore to enter quilts. Digital photos on CD or 4 X 6 prints are also fine. Anything you would put in our guild show is appropriate for the Images show. There are cash prizes. There's also an exhibition of quilts by youngsters 18 or less with cash prizes for them, too. Please encourage them to enter. Entry forms for adults are available at http://www.lowellquiltfestival.org/2008%20Quilt%20Entry%20Form.pdf and entry forms for youth quilts are at http://www.lowellquiltfestival.org/2008%20Youth%20Quilt%20Entry%20Form.pdf Mancuso Shows World Quilt Show XII – New England       NEW FALL DATES Manchester, New Hampshire - September 18-21, 2008 Workshop and lecture pre-registration is now available. GETAWAYS - TRIPS  VERMONT QUIT FESTIVAL TRIP  Mary Mazman of Crossroads Quilters in Beverly and Hawthorne Tours of Salem are offering a wonderful weekend to the Vermont Quilt Festival. Mark your calendar and start saving your pennies so we can fill a bus to the Vermont Quilt Festival on June 27. To make this happen, Mary Mazman needs to have some feedback as to whether or not this trip interests you. Please let her know or email her at maryandalbie@comcast.net. If there are any questions, please call Mary Mazman at 978-744-4697 or Kin Connor at Hawthorne Tours at 978-744-5463 or 800-287-5744. FOR SALE I'm selling an Inspira quilting frame.  $500.00- Hardly used.  Beverly McGrath DONATIONS NEEDED FOR SEWING CLASS Lynne Kulakowski has been running a school-based sewing club for the past two years; she has thoroughly enjoyed sharing this valuable skill with her students and says it has been rewarding to watch as they begin and complete their projects.   The City of Revere recently decided that the class should become part of its extended learning program!!  This will be a great asset to the fourth and fifth grade students Lynne will be seeing.  I'm sure all of you teachers and parents know what's coming: Lynne has been supplying most of what the class needs up to now. Since the class size is guaranteed to grow Lynne is asking the guild for donations.  Anything would be greatly appreciated: material, thread, trim, zippers, patterns, etc. 2008 -09 REGISTRATION June is registration month for the 2008-09 membership year. To streamline registration everyone will be asked to pick up an index card from Margie Berkowitch at the May meeting, to be returned, at the June meeting, in an envelope with membership fee. These envelopes will be collected at the front door. Information needs to be printed clearly: please include: name, address, telephone number, and email address. If you are not able to attend the May meeting, please send SASE to Margie Berkowitch.
